Why We Needed It:

Ever since the first laptop was released, People were interested in 3 things.  Performance, Laptop Battery life, and Size. In the early generation of  laptops, you could never have all three. A laptop would either have a strong performance in a big bulky package with horrible battery life, or it would be slim and sleek , decent battery with terrible performance. And the worse part of all is these were the high end laptops that cost over a $1000. The regular budget friendly laptops had neither the size, nor performance, and nor the laptop battery life. It was like disappointment, sadness, regret packaged into a machine.

The main purpose of a Laptop, was to be a portable version of the desktop. People dreamed of the possibility of one day having performance, laptop battery life, and a sleek form factor all in one package.  No matter how advanced technology got, manufacturers were only able to bump up the CPU performance while being able to keep a decent laptop battery life and a slim form factor. No one was able to put a Dedicated GPU into a slim laptop, while also maintaining a long laptop battery life. So the Industry split into 2 categories: Thin and Light Office/Business Laptops, or on the other hand Gaming Laptops. And occasionally, Graphics and Media centered laptops often consisting of 2 in 1 Laptop Tablet convertibles, or just Windows Tablets.

Why The Entire Tech World Went into Shock Recently

The time has finally come my fellow tech enthusiasts. With a recent development in the Tech world, we have finally achieved incredible laptop battery life with gaming level performance for when we need it. All in a lovely sleek and slim form factor.

How Much Battery Life Should A Laptop Have?

Now before we move any further, it’s important to clarify the guidelines for laptop battery life as I forgot to clarify that earlier.

Bad = 1-3 hours of laptop battery life 

Acceptable = 3-5 hours of laptop battery life

Excellent = 6-9 hours of laptop battery life

Impossible = 10-20 hours of laptop battery life

 

The Reveal And Conclusion

With the release of the Apple M1 Macbooks and the ASUS Zephyrus G14, We have finally reached the dream. Without diving too much into these two laptops, let me just explain briefly about their battery situation, then after this video you can check out their individual reviews. Starting with the Zephyrus G14, we have an 8-core laptop with a 6 GB NVIDIA RTX GPU that has a 14 inch screen size, yet has a beautiful slim and sleek matte white finish that looks INCREDIBLE. The build is all Magnesium Alloy and it also has a glass trackpad. The performance on this device is amazing. And with AMD’s Power Efficiency and this laptops battery management, We can get around 7-10 hours of battery life while web browsing or streaming video. This is a gaming laptop that can be used as a business laptop with no issue at all and with incredible laptop battery life. Now you may have noticed the impossible category above…10-20 hours of battery life sounds like a fairytale right? But it has finally been achieved. You would think it would be crazy enough to have that type of battery life on a office style laptop, but no. This is on a laptop that can run high end games and has a GPU that’s comparable to a GTX 1050 Ti Desktop Version. I’m talking about none other then the new Apple M1 MacBook’s. The MacBook air gets up to 18 hours of laptop battery life, whereas the MacBook Pro gets up to 20 hours of laptop battery life. These are with basic tasks of course but it’s incredible none the less. Make sure to use these laptops at 50% brightness or lower as the screens are already so bright.  I would love to provide more information about both laptops, but this was just an article on laptop battery life and how it has changed dramatically today.
